Carlos Robalo Cordeiro

Carlos Robalo Cordeiro is a specialist in Pulmonology since 1992 and a Senior Consultant of Pneumology since 2018. He has been the head of the Department of Pulmonology in Coimbra University Hospital (CHUC), since 2016. He has a PhD in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra (FMUC) since 1996 and has been a Full Professor of Pulmonology in FMUC since 2016 and the Chair of the Curricular Unit of Thoracic and Vascular Pathology since 2018. Since 2011 he is the Chair of the Pneumology Clinic in FMUC and since 2014 he is the Coordinator for the Research Strategic Area “Environment, Genetics and Oncobiology” in UC. From 2019 to the present date he is the Dean, of FMUC. He is a Visitant Professor, University of Siena, Italy and University of Salamanca, Spain. He was President of Pulmonology Portuguese National Board, 2006/2009 and President of Portuguese Society of Pulmonology, 2010/2015. He has been a member of the ERS (European Respiratory Society) College of Experts, since 2014, a member of the ERS Evaluation Committee since 2015 and was a member of the ERS Council 2008/2012. He was elected ERS Secretary General 2016/2019 and has been elected for the ERS Presidential cycle: Vice-President 2020/2021, President-elected 2021/2022, President 2022/2023, Past-President 2023/2024. He is currently President of the Board of Directors of the Academic and Clinical Center of Coimbra.
