With a PhD in Sociology from ISCTE – IUL, she was a researcher in the area of Environmental Sociology at ISCTE-IUL and more recently at ICS-ULisboa for more than two decades. She worked on topics such as risk perception, environment and health, energy efficiency and renewable energy, and chemicals in everyday life. She is the founder and member of the board of the environmental non-governmental organization ZERO – Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável, since January 2016, where she coordinates the area “Sustainable Societies and New Forms of Economy” and where she currently collaborates. She is part of the group of founders of Coopérnico – Cooperativa de Desenvolvimento Sustentável, CRL, the first renewable energy cooperative in Portugal, and is a member of the Board of Trustees.
