President of União das Misericórdias Portuguesas

Manuel Lemos graduated in Law. He was a Member of Parliament, President of the Administração Regional de Saúde do Porto (Regional Health Administration of OPorto), Head of Cabinet to the Minister of Health, Leonor Beleza, Regional Commissioner for the North in the Fight Against Poverty, Vice-President of the United Nations “Poverty Alleviation” Committee, Portuguese representative on the European Union’s Committee for Social Affairs. He has held many positions in Social Sector Institutions, such as Vice-President of Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto, President of the Health Commission of União das Misericórdias Portuguesas and President of Grupo Misericórdias Saúde, among many others. Since 2006, Manuel de Lemos is the President of União das Misericórdias Portuguesas, succeeding Father Vítor Melícias, who served 15 years at the head of the Institution.
